Alina Seleznyov

Alina is a current PhD researcher at ISEY. Her project explores how outdoor versus indoor learning environments shape young children's speech, language, and communication in UK school settings.

For her undergraduate degree, Alina studied Psychology and Linguistics at the University of Oxford, which sparked her interest in both the science of language development and the social dimensions of communication. After graduating, she spent time working in primary school settings as a teaching assistant and learning coach, including at School 360, an experimental school with a strong outdoor learning ethos and partnerships with research teams from a number of universities across the UK. As part of this role, she supported non-verbal children with additional needs to develop their communication.

Before starting her PhD, Alina spent two years as a Quantitative Researcher at a social research agency, working primarily with public sector and charity clients on a range of projects exploring topics related to children and young people, online harms, and emerging technology, among others.
