Büşra Sarikaya-Guven

Büşra holds a BA in Psychology from Bogazici University and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Yeditepe University. She is a clinical psychologist based in Turkey. Her MA thesis, titled "The Relationship Between Parental Burnout, Parental Perfectionism, and Parental Reflective Functioning: A Mixed Methods Study," focused on understanding how psychological pressures such as perfectionism affect parents’ experiences of burnout and their capacity for reflective functioning.

Currently, Büşra is funded through a COST Action Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) to work on the project “A European Consortium to Determine How Complex, Real-World Environments Influence Brain Development,” under the supervision of Dr. Georgia Lockwood-Estrin. This COST Action project brings together researchers across Europe to investigate how complex, real-world environments shape early brain development. As part of her STSM, Büşra is exploring how the concept of "environment" is defined and operationalized in the field of early development.

In her clinical practice, Büşra works with adults using a psychoanalytic orientation, focusing on long-term, in-depth therapeutic processes. While her clinical work centers on adult psychopathology, her academic and research interests are grounded in child development and parental mental health. Her broader interests lie at the intersection of child development, adult psychopathology, parental mental health, and developmental science.
